Shattered Reflections
I’m sick of this world and the way it works
The wealthy, the stupid, the conceited, the ruthless,
and the truthless liars become gatekeepers, deniers
of entry to those below
They do all they can to oppress those
that might expose the emperor’s lack of clothes
The fragile white man feels dispossessed
and fears the tables turning
because he remembers the crosses burning
Huddled masses, chamber gases, blood-soaked soil
Tariff games to try to perpetuate the profit on others toil
calling foul now because others know the rules
The dynamic is always the same, the fools
being the architects of their own advantage
only want to play while they are winning,
but if the tide turns, they’ll scorch the earth
They’ll burn it all down rather than lose the upper hand
They can’t earn respect, they must demand it
