NaPoWriMo Day 16
I struggle to summon the time to write a poem a day
and I am learning to accept that that is perfectly okay
Perfection is not the goal, aim for progress instead
When you fail, as you will, don’t get lost in your head
Don’t use a setback as an excuse to fall back to old ways
Instead seek to squeeze joy and life from each of your days
Consider whatever you’re doing as a privilege, a gift to enjoy
Channel the inner child, excited to play with a new toy
You’ll find things more fun if you do and less of a drag
Stop seeking validation and learn to fly your own flag
You don’t need to fit the mold of those you admire
instead open your heart and release the inner fire
Maybe it starts as a spark, but with patience and time
You can cultivate greatness, maybe even make it rhyme
One day you will craft verse that matches your taste,
but no amount of practice is ever a waste
